seven months

dsc01289_sm.jpgdsc00785.jpgdsc01319.jpg maddox is starting to do more and more. he has always been great to spend time with, but we can’t believe that, right before our eyes, he will just DO something new as he explores the world. it’s hard to tell his personality, but we think he is observant, inquisitive, funny and laid back. he will hold out one of his hands and turn it all around at every angle, looking at it. he will do the same with our hands or mouths or hair – grabbing and looking at them for as long as we’ll let him. he also still loves stretching back like this:

dsc01131-sm.jpg things that seem to capture his interest are textures, cars, loud things like trucks driving by or extremely annoying toys. so far, he has never cried at a loud sound. the other day, we jogged right past a tree crew on the street with a wood chipper and chainsaws in action (the workers were wearing ear protection). he didn’t mind and actually liked it. he wanted to watch them as if it was sesame street. i couldn’t believe it. and on that note, he could pretty much care less about tv, including sesame street or baby einstein stuff! believe me i have tried! we’re trying to be glad about this.

he has begun to “crawl”. i would like to not have to use those quote marks, but an outsider would probably not call it crawling. he is slithering forward and in every direction on his belly, like he’s doing a boot camp drill. apparently, i did that and so did lots of kids in my family. could that be genetic?

speaking of genetics, he has clearly preferred his left hand and foot (like left foot in mouth with left hand) since only a few weeks old. i know you can’t really tell handedness til they’re, like, 3, but we’re calling it. ha. and, he has rubbed his feet together just like his dad and pops since 2 months old! when i first noticed, i was blown away.

he has also had his first intentional kiss (to an older woman, madeline griffith, a 2 year old!). i try to get him to do it to me twenty times a day and i’m not cool enough. he now has two bottom teeth. we are so glad they have arrived into his mouth because the nights got BAD for about 6 weeks there. we’re back to better sleep now, thanks to lots of crying – by him and me. but hallelujah.

hope this catches us up somewhat. we’re still figuring things out – and i now realize you never feel like you have anything figured out. God knew that He needed to work on me. there’s such a long way to go…. happy weekend from the happiest mom alive.dsc01328.jpg
