inspired by a friend’s blog entry showing her 18month old and 15month old friend painting (that’s right), i thought this was a good morning to whip out the kid-friendly crayon and a crisp white sheet of paper: a masterpiece was sure to result from my creative cat. after about 15 seconds, his creative juices were definitely flowing. the paper had been thrown on the floor 5 times and the crayon had slobber on it and was trying to be pulled apart. (i think this kid is going to be one who takes apart things to see how they work.) it was 15 seconds of peace though! mental note – try again on next rainy day.

some light reading
correction from earlier. maddox’s first words were not snow and reading. he just liked those things. i don’t know how to write good sentences. here he is reading a favorite book. toward the end, he shows off a few of his tricks for you. and at the very end, you can see that i just happened to stop it right before he cried from hitting his head. good timing! [fyi, we count a word as something he says and knows what it means. so, his 1st words have been 1) mama 2) uhoh 3) dada and now he is all about the dada]

our mom/baby group

screaming
i don’t know that the parenting books would agree with allowing this type of behavior but it’s so dang cute, we just can’t help it.
such an obedient child
maddox had his 1st act of obedience yesterday – twice! he was going for outlets two different times and when don or i told him “no. not for babies.” he looked at me, stopped and crawled another way! this means he’ll never go through terrible twos nor have teenage rebellion, right?
