glorious vacation

things maddox learned to do while on vacation:

- clap his hands on command

- raise his hands above his head on hearing “praaaaaise the lord!”

- say a few new words, but not consistently

- roll a truck back and forth while saying “rrrrnnnn, rrrnnnn”

- partake of his new favorite food, sand (see below)

- walk. ha. just kidding.

- sleep on the beach (big Mo is teaching him well)

- move in on reed’s territory by flirting shamelessly with jessica

- be the star of a zillion more pics. we can’t get enough! and if you can’t either, here they are!!

capturing a one year old

my friend mandy did an incredible job of capturing m’s many moods for his 12 month pics. these won’t be up forever, but i thought i’d put it up for now … you can just look at the first few. there are a ton. http://www.mandyrobinson.com/Thomas_12m_proofs/proofs.html

who is this child?

i thought maddox might be a self-made vegetarian because he has repeatedly rejected turkey, ham, etc for the most part. well, yesterday when i offered him turkey for the 100th time, he acted like it was … um, something you love and can’t get enough of. he wolfed it down and ate two whole pieces whereas 4 bites was considered success in the past. here is the proof – turkey in the mouth fed to himself!!

i really try not to make meal-time a battle ground but i am glad that his appetite and speed of eating seems to have picked up recently!

why i love having 2 boys

i love seeing stuff like this around our house without having been a part of it:

proof that maddox has someone older and wiser teaching him fun boy-things. and maybe that boy is having a little fun in the process.

is there anyone out there? (cause it’s getting harder and harder to breathe)

ok. my first call for responses. i’m actually curious about this. [i'm sure atlanta radio shows shave talked about this, but since i don't go for long, leisurely drives anymore ...] what is your philosophy on removing pollen from your little world? i think it is a philosophy. do you advocate sweeping? blowing? washing? your patio, porch, car, etc? every day? or wait til it accumulates into a beautiful mossy layer and there is no more pollen falling? wha about your shoes in your house? do you take them off at the door or what? i just do nothing and whine about it then do a massive cleaning or two. but i’m thinking of changing my thinking….

little did i know

don recently installed a network camera (aka the “maddy-cam”) so we can see M as he is napping or waking up. so after these 3 days, i have discovered that he sleeps less than i thought he did. i killed like 20 minutes yesterday just sitting in front of the tv laughing at him as he flipped, swum, rolled, crawled and walked on his knees all over the crib. i think the sound machine must mask out non-vocal sounds on the monitor b/c i never had an idea “this behavior” was going on!

he is sacked out now though:

stand in the place where you sleep

i was kind of documenting a day in the life of maddox yesterday and was thinking it was a little … dull. but when i recorded going in to get him up from his nap, this occurred! i had trouble putting it up here yesterday, but here it is!
