anyone have a webcam? when don bought one before maddox was born, i kindly and submissively (“stars in my crown” i was so humbly thinking to myself) repressed my desires to say that i thought it was not a wise purchase. well, as is so often the case, i have been proved wrong over and over again. how FUN it is so see what goes on in that little 4′x3′ crib when we aren’t in there! i get to be the fly on the wall. and it is addicting. some weeks, when i put him down for his nap at 1pm, i will not take a peek and other weeks i will waste minutes equalling cumulative hours being the fly. this peeping in has given me proof of a one year old’s incredible imagination and abilities! if i was not sleepy and had to be in a crib instead of out playing, i would sit and sulk i think. maddox finds so many ways to have fun – and there are only passys and a blanket in the crib – no toys! mostly, he just moves in the most original ways. just now, he reminded me of the pig we saw at a neighborhood petting zoo this weekend, wallowing in the mud. he was plowing his head along til he would run into a side and get tickled and do it again. he was also cracking himself up by leaning backward over a side (it’s up to his shoulders so i am not worried). other adventures he’s repeated include taking his pants off, purposely falling and bouncing, practicing various swim strokes with flip turns and dangling the one blanket he’s designated as The One over the edge time and time again til he finally drops it. then go the passys and anything else he can reach. then comes the 10 minute wait on my part and usually crying on his part before i go in and rescue his beloved from the floor. i wish i could take a video of it on my screen, but i only know how to take stills. here are some favorites but they don’t quite do the whole process justice. if you need a laugh, come over to our home at 1pm any day and curl up with me to watch the latest edition.
