here’s M’s newest silly face
TEN years ago today…
… this was the scene!
>>
and here are the present-day facts:
1. it is a total miracle that God brought us two together almost 14 years ago. i could not imagine where or who i’d be without don by my side for this long. for sure i would be less funny, more uptight and more scattered. although Christ has given me my identity, He has used don to color in its lines.
2. the longer we are married, the more i love him and would want no one else. someone said, in reference to having children, that love multiplies rather than divides (<and that someone said it much more eloquently than that) but i feel that depth of love comes with time and commitment (kids or husband). depth does not come with certain activities or with achieving a certain thing or with romantic feeling. it is so sweet to look back on all our time together and realize i still want more. (i’m not done talking!)
3. what did we do for the past 10 years? i know what we’ve been doing the past 21 mos but the years before that are a sweet, fun, adventurous blur. the highlights were definitely traveling to peru, italy, portugal and st lucia AND working countless hours on our first and second house. if we’re good at one thing, it is working together and spending time together. that’s two things.
4. if we’ve changed so much for the better in this 10 years, i can’t wait to see who we are after another 10 years. God is really at work here and we are so thankful for that.
maddox might say your name
my mom got me some boots 9 years ago. i have loved them every year and finally, this year, they just couldn’t take the love anymore i guess. one fateful morning, this tragic thing happened to one of the heels and within 30 minutes, the other heel did the same thing.
isn’t that weird? it was kind of hard to walk around with maddox and being pg where i was. the shoe place laughed at me when i asked if they could reconstruct these wedges that crumbled so i guess i will get some new ones. but i don’t want to b/c i’m in mourning. i’ll never find ones as good or warm as these.
it is done.
so thanks to a great commenter named karen on my post asking about the pink pig, i got all the info i needed. just wanted to share some pics from that day which was weeks ago now so i guess we’re due another trip soon. i really don’t get it, but it’s a cheap Christmasy activity that is close by so it’s good! there is a 2for1 deal here if you want to go even cheaper. i did note that the ride was surprisingly NOT designed with 6′ tall pregnant women as their target market. i don’t know about fitting into that car again. my legs were asleep in about 2 secs. madox enjoyed it in a “what was that?” kind of way, but the highlight for him was running around and away from me in the parking lot (which is roped off for the ride – don’t worry). he did fall and bust his lip but was back up in no time. surprised me.

anxiously awaiting

loving all 60 seconds of the ride

the treacherous ride zoomed along as evidenced by the hair flying. or does this child just need a haircut?
